First meeting [VDAY EVENT FANFIC]

It's a random request from the corporation, but it's well-known that the Student Council keeps the prettiest and the most powerful girls among themselves. There's some incentive Kajiwara doesn't tell her about, but he does grab her by the wrist and pull her in close.

"Don't fuck this up."

Koharu nods, a little scared, but she swallows her fear. She'd rather be a servant girl at a conference than a weapon at school. The bus that takes the girls is expensive. Warmed seats, blankets and drinks for all. It's so much more than they're used to, but they can't enjoy it, cowering in fear of the head of the corporation who rides in the front.

Cute little maid uniforms, longer than the ones worn in the student council room, in varying shades. Her purple uniform matches her eyes, but all of the uniforms are subdued. Nothing too flashy for this conference. She's assigned a group of three and is told to memorize their likes and dislikes and their orders, for she is theirs for the next five days.

Five days she will have to stand in this room behind them and watch as they talk. The men giving instructions talk over them, contemplating ear plugs to keep the nature of the meeting private, but the need to hear those speaking to them overrules privacy. It's understood they wouldn't tell. No girl can risk explusion.

So this is how she ends up standing behind three men for five days. Her group is the 'Baltics' which sounds familiar, but perhaps is not. She lets it roll off her tongue, Japanese accent struggling with the word.

"Varitikis," She tries as the men talk about things she doesn't notice. "Ratuvia. Itsuonya. Rit..." She trails off, trying to reconcile the roman letters all squished together. Thuania. Lithuania. She stumbles, tries to make it work and she almost gasps in relief when one of the people addresses the man.

"Lithuania." She repeats to herself, then listens harder. It takes the first hour to learn the names, to repeat them until she can pronounce them with almost no accent. It's lucky that the men before her don't ask for something to drink before then, but the shortest of the three looks back at her and waves her a little closer.

It isn't him who speaks though, it's the one in the middle, whose name she faltered over, Lithuania. He speaks in perfect Japanese, smiling politely as he asks for a coffee black with two sugars, a small hot tea with lots of milk and sugar and a plain black tea. She bows, scurrying back in her haste and quickly trotting back.

The day goes by this way, drinks and food fetched and placed before them and she almost forgets she's scared of men. The polite manner of Lithuania catches her interest and he's pretty enough to make her look twice. She watches him as the meeting drags on that first day, watching him handle the other Baltics to either side.

In fact she forgets that he may get up at some point and it's always disasterous timing when these things happen. She turns with a tray full of hot teas and coffee and walks right into him. The drinks are scalding hot as they drip down her arms and legs, but she only has eyes for the stain spreading over his neatly pressed suit. It's enough to make her burst into tears, she's ruined everything. Kajiwara will be so upset, he'll scold her and hit her and--and--she's ruined things for him and she knows she'll get punished.

Koharu isn't sure what he might have expected, perhaps the profuse apologies that spring from her lips, but certainly not the accompanying breakdown. She slides to the floor, shards of china scraping up her knees and her stockings, mascara running down her face. She's a mess; if she hadn't ruined it before, she had now. But he looks more concerned than upset, kneeling down in front of her, wiping her tears away.

A Japanese man stands to help, saying something about taking care of his own, but Lithuania already is urging her to stand, calling for someone to clean up the spilled tea.

"Are you alright miss?"

She looks up at him, sees the kind face, the concern, the shiny eyes and she sort of falls in love right at that moment.

Of course she ruins it all by bursting into tears.
